Overview:

The Barnegat Light Historical Society & Museum (Museum) respects the privacy concerns of its members and donors and takes the following precautions to safeguard the confidentiality of information you may provide as you use the Museum website and member services.

Collection, use and disclosure of personal information:

The Museum uses the internet to communicate with its membership about our activities through email and newsletters; provides a website to disseminate news and information; as well as offers opt-in member services such as a directory. The Museum does not collect personal information except when you specifically and knowingly provide it. For example, if you are using the site to join or renew your membership, you will be asked to supply your name, address, email address, telephone number, and credit card information. The information you provide will be used by the Museum to fulfill your specific transaction request. 

Information Security:

Personal information gathered through the site is secure and is maintained in a manner consistent with current industry standards. Credit card transactions are handled and encrypted by Wild Apricot (please see below). Unfortunately, no data transmitted over the internet can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure.

Third-parties’ applications:

• Wild Apricot Payment Processing Privacy Policy Excerpt:   "When you pay for services via credit card, debit card, check, or ACH payment, WildApricot will transfer your payment data (e.g., payment card data, bank name, ABA/Routing number, bank account number, account type, account holder name) and billing details, including recurring payment schedule if applicable, to third-party electronic payment vendors (also known as payment gateways) that process electronic payment data so that you may pay for such services. For all such payments, WildApricot only transfers payment data through protected servers and does not store any payment data. If you authorize recurring payments or non-recurring future payments, your payment data and billing details will be saved by our third-party electronic payment vendors. The legal ground for processing payment data is that such processing in order to effect payment is necessary for the performance of contracts between WildApricot and our customers and between our customers and their members and contacts.”

The Museum may use and disclose your Personal Information as necessary or appropriate, especially when we have a legal obligation or legitimate interest to do so.   E.g., to comply with applicable law and regulations; to cooperate with public and government authorities; to cooperate with law enforcement; and/or for other legal reasons.
